 August 8, 2006 Team Macatawa Update: Two of Team Macatawa's members decided to take their sailing to the next level by competing in two of the biggest laser regattas of the year, Laser North American Championships and Laser Radial World Championships. At the Laser North American Championships, there were 65 laser radials where Phillip Norris got 10th and Sam Padnos got 13th. At the Laser Radial World Championships, there were 71 boats. Sam Padnos got 27th and Phillip Norris got 41st.

July 16, 2006 Team Macatawa Update: Team Macatawa's second string of events started with Laser Radial Canadian Nationals. Out of 22 boats Phillip Norris got 4th and Sam Padnos got 7th.

 Jay Mitchell was the lone Macatawa sailor at the Bemis/Smythe Area K Semi-finals. Jay got 6th out of 20 Lasers.

July 3, 2006 Team Macatawa Update: Team Macatawa's first regatta of the year was the Upper Midwest JO in Lake Forest, Illinois. Out of fourteen entrants on the radial course, Saraid Donnelly and Jay Mitchell were Team Mac's representatives. Saraid got 8th and Jay got 4th. There were 45 entrants on the optimist course. Louis Padnos got 7th overall and 4th in his age division (red). Anthony Norris got 18th overall and 5th in his age division (white). Lexi Petter got 25th overall and 10th in her age division (red). Arianna Slater got 37th overall and 14th in her age division (white). Ryan Tutton got 41st overall and 11th in his age group (red). Andrew Petter was Team Mac's only participant on the Opti Green Fleet course and got 8th out of 14.

 

The following weekend Team Macatawa sailed at the Skyline Regatta in Chicago at Columbia Yacht Club. Our lone entry in the 420 course was Josh Padnos and Heng Ty who finished 6th out of 26. On the radial course Sam Padnos won the event, Phillip Norris got 2nd, and Jay Mitchell got 4th. On the opti course, Alex Post got 3rd overall and 2nd in red fleet, Anthony Norris got 4th overall and 2nd in white fleet, Ryan Tutton got 9th overall and 2nd in blue fleet, and Arianna Slater got 7th overall and 4th in white fleet.

 

Before the start of the Team Mac year a couple of our sailors competed in the Laser Great Lakes Championship. Jay Mitchell was the only sailor on the Laser fleet and got 34 out of 66. On the radial course, Sam Padnos got 3rd, Philip Norris got 4th, and Saraid Donnelly got 10th.
