Pram Solo

Got the hang of Pram Camp? Previously known as “Opti Adventure,” this course introduces new single-handing skills to sailors between the ages of 7-13 who are ready to captain their own boat.

1 Week/Half Day Sessions – Starting July 6, 2020

Schedule: 9am – 12 pm Monday through Friday

Program Cost: $165 per student

Who should take this course?
Sailors who have completed 1st-8th grade (Age 7-13), with some pram sailing experience that have expressed an interest in solo sailing, especially sailors that may not be interested in our opti racing program or those that are looking for more practice first.

What is this course?
Our Pram Solo program can be both a stand-alone or a transition course between Pram Camp and our Opti Racing program. Sailors will learn the skills needed to control a sailboat alone, including: using a tiller extension, trimming properly, maneuvering within the boat. All while sailing off on longer destination type sails. This course was started as a transition from prams to our racing classes, but has since become the stomping ground of pram sailors who love to simply adventure and explore the lake. New adventures and destinations weekly, repeat sessions are encouraged!

Do we need a boat?
MBJA-owned Optimist Dinghies will be provided for all participants (unless of course, you would prefer to have your sailor use a family owned opti- just let us know). Boats will only be available for use during class time.
